A Lowcountry Love Story: Brittany & Jim’s Charleston Wedding Day

Brittany came in from sunny Florida, Jim crossed oceans from abroad, and they met in the heart of the South to begin their forever—right in beautiful Charleston, South Carolina.

Their day began slowly and intentionally—just the way it should. As the Lowcountry sun peeked over the horizon, Brittany and Jim shared a quiet sunrise together on the creek, soaking in the stillness before the celebration. When I arrived, Brittany was finishing the final touches while Jim was already dressed and beaming. We cleared the room for a few special moments to come.

With the help of Jim’s sister Jamie, Brittany stepped into her gown—soft and classic—with the glow of morning light pouring in. Before heading out for the first look with Jim, she shared the sweetest and most emotional moment with her mom. Tears were shed, hugs held a little longer, and boats gently drifted behind them on the water. Then, with the calm confidence of a bride in love, Brittany walked the boardwalk to meet her future husband. Their first look was filled with love, quiet words, and all the butterflies.

Next up? A bucket list dream location—Cypress Gardens. I can confidently say it’s one of the most picturesque places I’ve ever seen in the South. Spanish moss dangled from towering trees, lily pads floated on still waters, and vibrant greenery wrapped around every bend. We took a boat out for some absolutely magical bridal portraits (yes, The Notebook vibes were real), and then made our way to a quiet dock where they exchanged private vows. Just the two of them, their promises, and the sounds of nature surrounding.

Afterward, we popped over to downtown Charleston for lunch, bar games, and the exchange of a few sentimental gifts—so very them.

And for the grand finale? We returned to the creek where it all began. At Vickery’s Bar and Grill on Shem Creek, family and friends gathered to witness their intimate ceremony, officiated by a dear friend. There was laughter, happy tears, and the sweetest sealing of their forever.

After the ceremony, we stepped out onto the boardwalk just as golden hour wrapped the creek in the warmest glow. With the sun dipping low and the water shimmering behind them, Brittany and Jim shared quiet moments and a few more portraits before heading back to the celebration. As the evening began to wind down, the two of them slipped away one last time—returning to the boardwalk for a secret first dance under the open sky. Just the two of them, swaying softly with the sounds of the creek below and the last light of the day surrounding them. Pure magic.
